the music of mike cassetta reflects the diversity of searching for alternatives to the status quo. my influences range from blues to ska to tribal to jazz and rock. i view myself as a sponge washing my window; soaking up all i can to make my musical vision clear. drawing from such diverse genres could seem unfocused, but mikes style is so seamless that he clearly owns each track.
and as for his vision of his place in the evolving climate of music: i dont expend my energy wondering where i can fit in. as long as i can be inspired by fellow artists and play music everyday, i know im on the right path. i guess its just a question of what fuels you.
